Kara Wilson, MHC Intern
Kara is a Masters level Licensed Mental Health intern who works with individuals across the age spectrum, including children and teens. She is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which aids her work in empowering individuals healing from significant events, including childhood trauma, spiritual or religious trauma, and ritual abuse. She also supports individuals navigating anxiety, OCD, depression, grief, and faith-related challenges, and is experienced in neurodiversity-related challenges.
People who have experienced complex trauma often face ongoing avoidance, rejection, or misunderstanding—sometimes even from the people who were expected to help. This can leave them feeling unseen, unheard, isolated, judged, or like they don’t matter. Kara focuses on providing collaborative and empathetic trauma-informed support that recognizes each client as an expert in their own life. She sees her role as a compassionate partner in the healing process, offering understanding and effective tools that fit each person’s unique life’s experiences and needs in the moment.
As a nondenominational board certified chaplain, she brings a unique opportunity if you are hoping to include your spiritual experiences and journey into your therapy. Pulling from both professional and personal lived experience, Kara integrates evidence-based practices with genuine care and sensitivity. She also has a subspecialty in supporting members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, offering culturally competent care that honors faith, values, and personal identity.
